We spend all year looking forward to Christmas and then all of a sudden, it’s over. I’ve always loved the build up more than the day itself. I love spending time with family, decorating the house, baking festive treats and delivering presents.
Buying gifts for other people is my favourite thing about Christmas, I get so excited about what I’ve brought and usually spend all of December asking people if they want to know what’s under the tree. I try to be as thoughtful as possible when I’m buying, and love seeing peoples faces when they open something that they love.
Who doesn’t love receiving gifts though? I’m so grateful for all of the wonderful presents I unwrapped this year, I was well and truly spoilt. I thought I’d mention some of my favourite gifts and will link as much as I can find below (some bits are sold out), just incase anything takes your fancy!
New Look blush faux leather jacket, Zoeva Caramel Melange eyeshadow palette, River Island heeled sandals, MAC Frost lipstick in New York Apple, Nanshy luxury travel brush set, Next makeup bag, Biba crossbody bag, River Island crinkle metallic skirt, Pandora bracelet, Pandora ring.
Like most other 20-somethings, I live in my leather jacket, I wear it with everything from jeans and boots to girly dresses. Sometimes though, black isn’t quite right and for those times, this New Look blush biker jacket is going to be perfect! I can’t wait until it warms up a bit so I can start to wear it.
When it comes to eyeshadow, Zoeva is one of my favourite brands. I adore the Cocoa Blends palette to the point where I’ve hit pan on a couple of shades and so thought it was time to expand my collection. These palettes have the perfect balance of mattes and shimmers and they blend so easily! The Caramel Melange palette is full of burnt, rusty oranges, warm toned browns and gold and copper glitter, my go to everyday shades. My only grumble is that these palettes don’t come with a mirror!
Sticking with makeup bits, I did extremely well this Christmas! I’ve been after some new brushes for a while because I’m awful at finding the time to wash my own – RIP Real Techniques buffing brush… I loved the unusual shape of these Nanshy brushes, they’re so easy and comfortable to hold and they really have made a difference to my makeup. I also received a cute little ‘L’ Next makeup bag as a Secret Santa present and it perfectly fits all of my day to day products in.
Lastly, my boyfriends sister got me a beautiful Mac lipstick in the Frost finish. I would never have chosen anything like this for myself but I love it. I’m usually strictly a matte lip girl but the pink shimmer in this red lipstick is beautiful and was perfect for the party season!
This Christmas, River Island really came up trumps. Usually I struggle to shop in there, I have a size 8 waist and a size 14 bum according to their skirts, but, that’s nothing this metallic, pleated midi couldn’t solve! So far I’ve worn this skirt with band tee’s and I love the look but I can’t wait to dress it up a little with the black heels (from my wish list, thank you, Jamie) and a bodysuit.
Sticking with gifts from the boyfriend… I was spoilt! Aside from Vivienne Westwood, Biba is my favourite handbag brand. I love that they’re so affordable yet so well designed and so beautifully made. I’ve always loved art deco styling and Biba’s geometric logo and embossing captures this perfectly. This leather and suede cross body bag is so roomy and has a removable chain handle so it doubles up as a clutch. Two bags for the price of one, bargain!
Lastly, I have a couple of Pandora bits. I’d been after a new Pandora ring for a while but, if your local store is anything like mine, you melt under the lights while you wait around for hours in giant queues of men buying the wrong sized tiara rings for their girlfriends. No thank you. I wanted some sparkle but nothing too much as I had two other rings that I wanted my new one to go with. I chose a silver band encrusted with cubic zirconia all of the way around, it’s beautiful and super sparkly but also simple and elegant.
Being the thoughtful sod that he is, Jamie asked my mom whether I’d like the matching bracelet for Christmas and so now I sparkle all over! The bracelet is a simple row of cubic zirconia’s on a silver chain that is so beautifully understated… I love fine, delicate jewellery that I can put on and forget that I’m wearing. Boy did good!
And that’s what I got for Christmas this year! I’ve been one bloody lucky girl and I’m soso grateful for everything that I’ve received. I hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas and have had the best start to the new year!
